Los Camperos

I ran to Lehman Center in the Bronx yesterday from Midtown. A great feeling crossing Willis Avenue Bridge. Fiddling with Strava later told me that its the Marathon route. The Bronx is hilly! :)

Anyway, the purpose was to listen to the Los Camperos -- Mariachi band. My first real introduction to the Mariachi. Proud players -- with a rural cowboy rhythm. The wide array of instruments -- spanish guitar, violins, trumpets, harp -- are really awesome! Then there are the operatic singers, the tap-dancing cowboy, the vibrant pasa doble! Felt like making a trek down to Jalisco where the Mariachi trace their origin! A great Sunday evening!
